Muscle testing involves finding a muscle that is unbalanced and then attempting to determine why that muscle is not functioning properly. Treatments may involve specific joint manipulation, or various myofascial therapies among other techniques. The object is to isolate and test the function of a single muscle in the best possible manner.
Postural assessments include examining the alignment of physical structures and determining which, if any, are not properly aligned. The best treatment plan for bringing the structures back into alignment is then determined.

Swedish massage can be relaxing or energizing, depending on how it is performed. It is designed to improve circulation and boost immunity. It may also reduce scar tissue adhesions and speed healing as well as reduce swelling and congestion. Basic strokes which flow toward the heart, as well as a combination of kneading, rolling, gliding, vibrational, percussive, and tapping movements are used, A lubricant is used to reduce friction on the skin. The client is covered by a sheet, with only the area being worked on exposed.

Deep tissue techniques are designed for more focused massage work and are usually integrated with other massage techniques. Working a specific joint, muscle or muscle group, the therapist will access deeper layers of the soft tissue. It is often effective for chronic muscular pain, injury rehabilitation as well as reducing inflammation-related pain caused by arthritis and tendinitis. Each person experiences pressure differently. Starting superficially and easing into the depth of the muscle slowly often allows more movement. If the pressure is applied too deeply or too quickly, the muscle may tighten to protect that area. Techniques that utilize deep-tissue/deep-muscle massage are administered to affect the sub-layer of musculature and fascia. The muscles must be relaxed for the therapist to be able to reach deeper layers and effectively perform deep-tissue massage.

This is a form of deep tissue work intended to break up ischemic areas of tissue, eliminate trigger points and restore postural alignment. Trigger Points are areas of tissue that refer pain sensations to other parts of the body and may be painful themselves. Treatment involves trigger point compression, myofascial and muscle activating techniques. Compression applies pressure to these points leading to the release of tension. Generally, this is initially uncomfortable followed by a feeling of release in the muscle. Success is measured by pain reduction as well as increased range of motion and strength. Trigger Point Therapy relies on client-therapist interaction. The therapist encourages the client to vocalize what he is feeling throughout the session.
